Piero Taruffi, a Roman driver well known for his automotive activity, was among the few to win the three most famous car races on the road – Targa Florio, Mille Miglia and Carrera Panamericana – the first-person holder of numerous world records, achieved by means of of his own design (the “Rondine” and the famous Tarf “bisiluro”), Taruffi is much less known for his activity in the motorcycle sector, a sector in which, in the Thirties, he achieved absolute supremacy, unanimously recognized by both sports critics of the time than by its own antagonists. The final part of the volume is dedicated to the records conquered by Taruffi which led him to hold the absolute record for speed on a motorcycle for some time.
