Product Description

In 1946, Italy was a nation in need of reconstruction. It was essential to offer the population the chance to get about independently, with simple and economical solutions. There were countless manufacturers—mostly small or very small—who produced such vehicles, but among them were also big names such as Moto Guzzi, which in that year unveiled its Motoleggera 65: it was small, basic, economical and had negligible running costs (it covered 45 km on 1 litre of fuel), yet it was almost a proper motorbike, with a more generous displacement than bicycle engines and a full frame. It proved a success, evolving into the B and C versions and then into the new Cardellino, increasingly resembling a proper motorbike, with the engine capacity increased first to 73 and then to 83 cm³. This is the story of the era of the “Guzzini”, which were also capable of bringing people together and establishing themselves as an extraordinary instrument of freedom and social affirmation, as only Italian ingenuity has been able to create.
