Product Description

As only the greats have been able to do, Benelli has linked its image to an engine, the single-cylinder single-shaft driven by a cascade of gears that in the Thirties had no rivals in the popular 175 class. Benelli engine reached the apex of its development after the war, leading Dario Ambrosini to the world title in 1950. Ten years later, the technical evolution of Grand Prix engines required greater splitting and Benelli did not hesitate to design and build an astounding quattro cylinders that refined year after year not only allowed the Australian driver Kelvin Carruthers to win the world title in the 250 class in 1969, but increased to 350 and then to 500, he managed to challenge, often winning, the formidable MV Agusta in the most prestigious classes.
